Mary J. Fortenberry

Mary Fortenberry received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of New Orleans in 2002. Mary is the Founder & CEO of Onenique, LLC a management consulting firm committed to creating designs that are engaging and establishing brand awareness. In this role, she consults with a host of international, national, and local businesses across the country. She has spent more than 10 years in brand management for large and mid-size churches, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Mary has received training and is proficient in all Microsoft Office programs as well as Adobe Creative Suites which enhances her ability to work with each client to meet graphic design and branding needs. Mary is a creative, innovative, strategic thinker and a results-driven team leader and administrator. When working with clients, she is deliberate about delivering unique designs that truly speak to the vision of each organization.

She is creative in setting the direction as well as the strategic implementation of all internal and external communications to consistently articulate, enable and fulfill each organization’s mission and vision. Mary consistently exceeds expectations as a trend-setting graphic design consultant in a variety of areas including leading efforts related to the creation and development of organization websites; working to ensure that organizations maintain an effective presence on the web including style/presence, search engines, and new technology; coordinating webpage maintenance; developing systems designed to organize, prioritize and communicate promotional items; creating communication strategies to market, inform, and promote teaching series, big events, and a variety of client-directed campaigns. Her design and brand management experience includes leading efforts to design all art and promotional materials related to organization-wide activities with a high standard of creativity, excellence and effectiveness; monitoring the look, vibe and feel of organizational promotional materials; and overseeing the use of logos and images that represent the organizations for which she provides consultation services.

Mary began her career as a Preschool Teacher at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where she quickly rose in rank to a Lead Teacher and helped to expand the curriculum for the toddler classroom. She also served as Mental Health Specialist at Milestones Mental health where she developed curriculum to be used in group and individual sessions with her clients. Continuing her love of working with patients and those who could not care for themselves, she began working at Diversified Home Healthcare. During her time at Diversified, Mary’s skills in the following areas, though outside her field of study, were considered valuable assets to the organization as she helped with developing their company brochures, operations manuals, curricula, business cards, and other branding collateral. As a critical partner in this work, it’s an added benefit that she understands and has worked the health field as that will inform her design and the options that she provides to the Coalition for the website, social media, and any associated materials.

Mary has served as a key marketing and branding contributor for a variety of nonprofit organizations, businesses, and churches including Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts, FLOURISH STL (grantee site, workshops, and materials), Saint Louis Philanthropic Organization (grantee site, workshops, and materials), Rustic Roots Sanctuary (social media campaign and development of long-term social media plan), Folktale Productions, We Rise Up 4 Kids, Intralox, UST Global, Michelin, Bridges Not Walls Foundation, Shalom Church (City of Peace) Businesses On the Move, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, and Good Hope Baptist Church to name a few.

She is known for her unique attention to detail and individualized, quality products including logos, brochures, marketing and branding materials, and development/revision a host of church, nonprofit, and business websites and social media sites, leading to increased web traffic and improvement of visitors’ ability to effectively navigate the site. Most notably, Mary redesigned the website for American Synthetic Rubber Company, a division of Michelin. Currently, Mary serves as the Creative Director Consultant for Connect Church in Algiers, LA where she oversees all social media, graphic design, and marketing efforts, in addition to serving as the Brand Management & Design and Website Management Consultant for several organizations including We Rise Up 4 Kids and Mosaic Beginnings, LLC.
